Add interest to your room by layering contrasting colors such as creams, blues, and pink for that pop of color. Think about mixing the scale of patterns (one or two large, with some medium and small) as well as the type (geometric, striped, and houndstooth). A living room should should have multiple lighting like wall sconces, floor lamps, and table lamps. You can add an uplight in a dark corner to create some drama. Spotlights can be used to highlight a piece of artwork or a sculpture. Layer with personality, this is what makes the room "you"!

Here are some tips to keep in mind when choosing your coffee table. Distance from the edge of the sofa to the edge of the table should be 18 inches. The height of your coffee table is key and should be about one or two inches lower than your sofa seat. If you have small children consider an oval or round table, since sharp corners and kids don't mix. Wood brings warmth to any space. Glass tables are less bulky and are easier to wipe down. Try a metal coffee table but don't mix metals. Make sure when selecting a coffee table it suits your needs and your style.
